What is a podcast

What do I use to download the mp3 or podcast?

Does it cost anything?

What is a podcast

Basically a podcast is a new way for us to make our programs available for you to download. It is "radio on demand". If I said it is like going to the newspaper store 1 time and signing up for a daily newspaper which is delivered at your doorstep everyday, I would be close to describing a Podcast.

The good thing is You don't 'need' an ipod because what you download is simply an Mp3 audio file which you can play on your computers media player. You can also transfer the file to any portable device like an Ipod.

What do I use to download the mp3 or podcast?

We recommend using Itunes. It is the quickest way to subscribe.

Download and install Itunes from here for Mac and Windows.

{from the itunes website}

To browse for podcasts at the iTunes Music Store, click Music Store in the Source list, then click the Podcasts link on the left side of the main page. Click a podcast to see a list of recent episodes.

To download a single podcast episode, click the Get Episode button next to the episode.

To subscribe to a podcast, click the Subscribe button next to the podcast graphic. iTunes downloads the most recent episode. As new episodes become available, they are automatically downloaded to iTunes(when you are connected to the Internet).

If you know the Internet address of a podcast feed, you can subscribe to it without using the Music Store. Choose Advanced > "Subscribe to Podcast" and enter the URL. You can usually find the URL of a podcast on that podcast's webpage.

To set the frequency iTunes checks for new subscription podcast episodes, choose iTunes > Preferences and click Podcasts. Then choose an option from the "Check for new episodes" pop-up menu.

To set the number of subscription podcast episodes iTunes automatically downloads, choose iTunes > Preferences and click Podcasts. Then choose an option from the "When new episodes are available" pop-up menu. If you choose "Do nothing," new episodes appear dimmed in the Podcasts playlist. You must click the Get button next to the episode to download it.
