About Erica

Erica is a reporter and host at CityNews Toronto with a deep passion for the stories of her city and its people. A Toronto native, she graduated from York University with an honours degree and launched into her broadcast career as an intern at Rogers TV York Region. In 2015, she packed up her parka and moved out west to join CityTV Winnipeg’s morning show team as a live-eye host. It was there that she met polar bears in the wild, skydived with RCAF Search and Rescue Technicians, and learned what surviving -31C without wind chill feels like. Erica soon hoisted a camera on her shoulder as part of the inaugural team behind the launch of the daily local newscast for CityNews Winnipeg. As a video journalist, she covered community, crime, and politics - with a keen interest for telling the human stories at the heart of the headlines. She’s happy to be back in Toronto telling stories in the city she loves. Since returning in 2018, she's been instrumental in the coverage of inequities in our city, covering major environmental concerns, how race and gender impact the lives of workers in the city, and the ground-breaking scientific research helping to save lives and fight disease. When she's not on the hunt for her next story, Erica prefers to indulge in her love for music, art, Shakespeare and her one-eyed rescue pup Luna.
